The role of the verifier in Emissions Trading Schemes is to provide assurance to the users
of reported data (regulators, carbon market traders etc) that the data is a faithful
representation of the reality and can therefore be used for the intended purposes of
trading – i.e. no ‘dud cheques’ / ‘bubble shares’ etc are being passed.
