This programme consists of two half-day workshops to explore and develop two core management skills: Motivation and Delegation.

We all know that what motivates us personally may do nothing for other people; and that what motivates others may leave us scratching our head in bewilderment – but knowing it and applying that knowledge in our everyday behaviour are two different skills. So, if you want to help motivate your team members it is first necessary to understand what motivates people, then identify what motivates specific individuals in your team, then work out an action plan to put it all into practice – which is what this half of the workshop is about.

We have all been a victim of a past manager “dumping” work on us while believing they are delegating – and, mostly, it doesn’t feel good or motivate us to perform well. Delegating is like any other management skill in that we need to learn what it is, how to do it, then put it into action. Simple really – so why do many managers still dump rather than delegate? Often it’s just a matter of using a structured approach to avoid ineffective dumping and start delegating effectively – which is what this half of the workshop covers.
