Using an extraordinary event to generate the data for the assessment, participants will be taken out of their emotional comfort zones and confronted with a challenge which the group will only achieve if it works effectively as a team and uses a high level of resourcefulness in its approach.  Along the way the team of observers will be monitoring individual performance in detail, with a view to providing both verbal and written feedback against core competencies.  Peer feedback will also be provided, from people who can only comment on what they see on the day.  Context, history, status, knowledge and job role will deliberately be kept irrelevant.  What we see on the day is what we comment on.  It is pure first impression feedback, and lots of it, given by a team of highly experienced consultants with many years of business experience between them.

Course Objectives
  • How you respond when in unfamiliar territory and under emotional pressure.
  • The impact you have on others, especially when your “default behaviours” are on display.
  • How much more you can achieve than what your original mental limits tell you.
  • The contribution to a team that is most valued by other team members.
  • Your instinctive abilities in key areas such as conflict handling, influencing, motivating others and leadership.
Course Agenda

Musikscool sets participants the following challenge:

  • You have until 4.30pm to write, rehearse and record an original 5 track music CD.  All of you must perform on at least one of the tracks.
  • You will also create and initiate a plan for how to raise at least £5,000 for a charity of your choice from sales and sponsorship of the CD.
  • You will also design and produce a mock up of the CD, with insert showing lyrics, artists, sponsors etc.
  • You will arrange for maximum PR coverage during the day and afterwards, including press, radio and TV where possible.

Feedback focus

Our observers will be concentrating their feedback for all participants on the following 8 topics:

  • Conflict resolution techniques.
  • Leadership style, and the extent to which individuals inspire and gain commitment from others.
  • Negotiation and influencing, rapport and relationship building with unknown people
  • Personal impact, authority, peer respect.
  • Creativity, risk taking and entrepreneurialism.
  • Business acumen, project planning, risk analysis.
  • Team working and preferred team roles.
  • Energy, drive, attitude and emotional resilience.

We are also happy to make observations in one other personal area per participant.
