The latest initiative to emerge from this policy is the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) which focuses on the 5000 high energy using companies that fall below the threshold for the European Emissions Trading Scheme, and aims to encourage them to achieve energy efficiency for their operations.


Delegates do not require any prior knowledge of the CRC, emissions accounting and management to attend this briefing.

Course Objectives

To provide organisational management (at both “Top Most Entity” and “Local” level):

  • Overview and understanding of the requirements, challenges and opportunities presented by the UK’s new legal requirement
Course Agenda

Sessions will include:

  • background to climate change policy and regulation in the UK
  • eligibility rules and requirements
  • accounting rules and principles
  • key aspects of data management and accounting to ensure compliance
  • integration with existing accounting and management systems
  • opportunities for Q&A in relation to delegates own organisations

Trainer Profiles

Darragh Power

Training Consultant

Darragh is an experienced consultant working internationally in the sustainability and training and development fields.  As part of Future Perfect Darragh has experience of verification and consultancy in relation to Greenhouse Gas Emissions reports as they apply to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and Climate Change Agreement (UK).  Darragh has trained verifiers for the California Air Resources Board Regulatory Greenhouse Gas reporting and verification program.  Darragh has expertise in non-financial assurance, and data accounting, and he is also qualified financial adviser (Ireland).  He has a background in training and development and has extensive experience internationally in training program design and delivery for regulation and compliance training, systems training and management training.  A certified technical trainer (CTT+) Darragh has also lectured in Dublin City University, conducted social science research, and worked in the financial services and insurance sectors, where he gained experience of a wide variety of quality management programs including a number of Lean Six Sigma projects.  He is a certified HBDI practitioner for individuals and teams.
