Mr Prof David Clutterbuck FCIPD
Practice Leader
David’s qualifications include a PhD in mentoring, and a post-graduate certificate in coaching and mentoring supervision. He is on the visiting faculty of both Sheffield Hallam and Oxford Brookes Universities and has taught at many other universities and business schools around the world.
David is one of the world’s top 15 management thinkers and greatly in demand as a speaker at conferences around the world. The recurrent theme of all his work is the quality of dialogue – and particularly learning dialogue -- in the workplace. He is the author of nearly 50 management books, including several best-sellers. He enjoys and makes ample time for hands-on training and development activities within client companies.
David brought the concept of structured mentoring to Europe in the early 1980s and is widely credited with having pioneered the emergence of developmental mentoring. He co-founded what is now the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, for which he has been appointed a lifetime ambassador. He led the development of the International Standards for Mentoring Programmes in Employment. He has led or participated in dozens of research projects related to his areas of interest.
David’s style as a trainer is challenging, provocative and always based in evidence gathered from research. He believes in engaging participants through BDQs (“Bloody Difficult Questions”) and through providing opportunities to try out new ideas and approaches in the classroom. A rich sense of humour percolates all his training and speaking.
