My undergraduate degree is a BS in Chemistry from the University of Richmond. Upon graduation, I started working for DuPont in their Photo Products Division. My career with DuPont included working at their Parlin, NJ and Brevard, NC sites. While in North Carolina, I received my MBA from Clemson. My favorite class during the program was accounting. I later took the additional accounting classes required to sit for the CPA Exam. Once I completed the required courses, I took the CPA Exam and passed it the first time. I have been working in the Accounting profession ever since.

Three years ago, my scientific background became intrigued with Greenhouse Gases(GHG) and Carbon accounting. I began attending classes and conferences in this area and concluded this was a new area of accounting. With impending carbon legislation that would eventually affect the financial statements for large companies, I began to look around for continuing professional education (CPE) in this area. When I could not find any CPE in this area, I contacted Future Perfect, one of the premier GHG training companies in the world to see if they were interested in providing this new type of training. In collaboration, we have produced the first CPE for accountants and CPAs on carbon accounting.

Main responsibilities

McBride Shopa and Company - Senior Compliance Auditor

Main responsibilities

• Experienced compliance auditor for state and local government entities including the Single Audit for the
• State of Delaware Public Health Programs. Practiced in identifying and testing of internal controls and
• assessing fraud.
• Responsible for uncovering fraud and check forgery during audit of special funds account.
• Audit of DHSS program revealed numerous findings which resulted in an adverse opinion.
• Maintained favorable relationships as a secondary auditor working through KPMG and New Castle County auditors.
